Hand up if
you are sick of stuffy book reviews appearing everywhere, in the newspapers, magazines or worse the most dull reviews websites. You often turn to these reviews to help you fall asleep.
you secretly, or openly, believe that this is all part of a big conspiracy, that the reviewers are told by their editors or whoever they report to, to proceed very carefully. This is factored in how they get salary raises, bonuses and the like.
you prefer to go to Amazon to look up their reviews, they are real people writing them, just like us, you and I.
you wait TILL you get home to take out the book you can’t seem to put down at the moment. On a train – unless you can read with your book on your lap!!
you also prefer that a train load of people not know that you are looking into ‘7 ways to save your marriage’ thanks very much.
you often invite the wrath of your pompous friends if they get a sneak of your book. How dare you.
you write your reviews on Amazon under a pseudonym.
you secretly troll for websites that especially talk about self-help books but you can’t seem to find any. And no, you can not and will not ask you friends, colleagues, family, husband (can you hear yourself) for recommendations. Especially not your in-laws.
You wonder if there is someone out there like you. You feel so alone. And misunderstood.
You have always been looking for a blog like mine. Welcome to my book club! :)
